NASTC Update: Winter is not over! Snow is on the way & more.

14 Mar 2013, Posted by Ski NASTC in Latest News

After a week of some warm temperatures and great spring skiing, it looks like the weather will be changing course.  The forecast shows that things will dramatically change early next week, with snow starting Tuesday through Wednesday and lingering snow showers on Thursday.

Looks like conditions are going to be fantastic for the ski improvement camp at Northstar next week, March 22-24.  We still have space available in the course.  It should be a great 3 –days on snow.  We have a couple of extra treats for the group that include an afternoon Tech Talk on ski tuning.  The group dinner will be hosted at Stella the in-house restaurant at the Cedar House Sport Hotel and whose Chef, Jacob Burton, is in the running for the Food and Wine Best New Chef award.  We will also have special access to the private restaurant, Schaeffer’s Camp for lunch on the final day of the course.  Schaeffer’s Camp is located just below the summit at Northstar and has a fabulous view.  This course is going to be an action packed 3 days, with full days of skiing, coaching and fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=zewPRNOOlhY

Another incentive to head to the Sierra’s this week is the US Ski Team.  The top U.S racers will be congregating at Squaw Valley for the U.S Nationals.  With the world cup circuit wrapping up these next few days, the US Ski Team will head home to compete for best in the country.  You can expect to see Julia Mancuso, Ted Ligety, Michaela Shiffrin, Travis Ganong and more.  This will be an exciting event to watch.

Another NASTC Camp will be kicking off this weekend at Crested Butte led by Eric Lipton and Nick Herrin from the PSIA National Team.  Crested Butte got a dusting of fresh snow which will do wonders to freshen up the snow surface and keep it winter like and fun.  This will also be a fun week, if you find yourself out near Crested Butte and want to jump in with the group; it’s not too late to make it happen – just give us a call!
