After a brutal cold snap, the second one of the season so far, we have never been happier to see the temperatures creep back up to normal.  The upside of the cold snap is that the snow has been sensational.  NASTC is ramping up over the next few weeks with an AIARE Certified Avalanche Level 1 class, the All Conditions/All Terrain camp at Alpine Meadows and a backcountry day on Donner Summit with the ‘Lake Run” on the agenda.  If you have been following the World Cup, then you know Michaela Shiffrin is the girl to keep you eyes on as she is currently the top ranked US female.  Ted Ligety, Marcel Hirscher and Aksel Svindal are battling it out.  Although Ligety has one some races with a phenomenal margin, he is currently third in the rankings with Hirscher sitting at first.

NASTC Off-piste & Steeps Camp – Crested Butte, CO, March 16-21:  Explore one of Colorado’s best kept secrets.  Getaway for a truly unique ski training adventure.  Crested Butte offers skiers so much in terms of terrain, hospitality and off-hill entertainment.  Crested Butte is a thriving traditional Colorado mountain town and one of the few remaining.  Downtown Crested Butte has an irresistible artistic charm; the main street is lined with lots of colorful building and unique shops and restaurants. The Elevation Hotel where we stay is located right at the bottom of the lifts.  The rooms are spacious with views of either the mountain or the valley.  The skiing is simply exhilarating.  Lots of vertical, exciting terrain and beautiful views of the Elk Mountains.  It’s how a Colorado ski trip should be.

All Conditions/All Terrain – Squaw Valley, CA, February 26-28:  The mountain at Squaw Valley has natural tendency to produce great skiers.  Combined with neighboring Alpine Meadows, this resort offers the largest amount of skiable terrain in the North America and one of the best of West.  Build up your skiing skills and tactics and master the mountain.  The All Conditions/All Terrain ski training camp is the ideal environment to push your limits safely and bump your skiing up to the next level.

NASTC Dryland Training Kit:  The complete NASTC Dryland Kit includes a SkiA Sweetspot Trainer, an agility ladder, mini-band and a copy of Total Skiing.  The dryland training kit will help you develop better strength, flexibility, agility and mobility.  Many of the movements described in Total Skiing mimic movements on the snow and help train muscular coordination used in those movements.  These off-snow training tools can help you improve your skiing even while you are not at the resort.  Visit the NASTC Pro Shop for more details and to order.  https://skinastc.com/pro-shop
