  • An Interview with Chris Fellows, Pittsburgh Post Gazette

An interview with Chris Fellows on his book Total Skiing in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette
“Total Skiing” offers a variety of on-snow and off-snow drills and training programs for each type of skier that “will deliver big paybacks in performance and will increase the fun factor on the slopes.”

  • Snow!

The last couple weeks of November have brought record snowfall to the Sierras.  Ski resorts are reporting a snowfall of 7 feet, though you could find deeper spots if you know where to look.  We have conditions in places that we typically see at the end of January or early February.  It’s amazing and almost unreal!  After waiting all summer and fall to make some turns, our diligent patience has finally been rewarded with snorkel deep snow.  We must have done something right here in the Sierras to have every skiers’ wish granted.  In case you were wondering, the skiing is phenomenal and we encourage you to come out and make some turns, upcoming NASTC courses are: Total Skiing Clinic at Sugar Bowl, December 20-21 and January 13-14 and the Alpine Meadows All Conditions/All Terrain, January 23-25 (this course has developed the reputation for having some really good powder days and typically sells out quickly). We’ll ski you soon!

  • Values of Early Season Training

Getting early season coaching is one of the best things you can do for your skiing each season.  Dusting off the summer haze is never as easy as it sounds.  If we rush the process and don’t take the time to review good fundamentals then we set ourselves up to develop bad habits which we end up reinforcing with every turn we make.  Unfortunately the next clinic that you take will have to be focused on correcting those habits rather than continuing your development as a skier.

  • Why We Ski

    Why We Ski

“One can never be bored by powder skiing because it is a special gift of the relationship between earth and sky. It only comes in sufficient amounts in particular places, at certain times on this earth: it last only a limited amount of time before sun or wind changes it. People devote their lives to it “for the pleasure of being so purely played” by gravity and snow.
